A Day in the life of a Street Child
Anthony Neiser Perchilón, who is 9 years old, lives in Barrio La Esperanza, Cajamarca. He lives with his father, who is an alcoholic, and his 2 siblings. His mother died when he was 7. He has 1 brother, Eduardo, who is 13, and a sister, Vaneza, who is 11. His father has no fixed employment. This is a typical day in the life of Anthony: After waking up at 7 AM, he gets dressed, has a breakfast of coffee and soup, and does his homework. At 8 AM he goes to Santa Apolonia to start work: he acts as a guide for tourists and sells sweets. At about 11.30 he comes to BrucePeru for a lesson and lunch, and at 12.30 he leaves for school, which starts at 12.45. School goes on until about 6 PM, when he walks home alone and cooks for his family, usually rice and potatoes (his father does not cook). Between 6 and 7 he has dinner, and then plays football and other games in the street with his neighbours. At about 8 he watches Television for a while, and then goes to bed.
